Joana Almeida Roque
Joana Almeida Roque. Master of Research student in Art: Theory and Philosophy at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Master in Artistic Studies - Theory and Critique of Art by Faculdade de Belas Artes, Universidade do Porto. Graduate in Visual Arts - Photography by Escola Superior Artística do Porto. Her investigative process and writing production revolve around consciousness and the (disintegration of the) self which, as products of a physical system - the body - articulate a phenomenology that potentially surpasses physicality. In the recent past, she participated in several group exhibitions and produced a number of art works, including Minha Carne (presented at conferences) and Quando Eu Cair Calca-me, both in partnership with Sílvia de Pinho. Independently, she continues the ongoing project/ experience initiated in 2008 (to which all others have been reduced): 18 Men Raped Me And I Survived Their Cocks.
