In 2025-2029, CEAA will be committed to open up original creative research and future-oriented projects, while strengthening the previously established and successful strategic areas of action. Aligned with the Green Deal, Digital Transition, and the Agenda 2030 Goals, CEAA's will take full advantage from its multidisciplinary team of experts, the long-lasting history of both national and international collaborations, and from the huge work already done on the fields of Architecture, Cinema, Performative and Visual Arts. Hence, the CEAA's objectives will be two fold:
Long-term objectives:
1) to make visible the impact of Art Studies to provide effective answers in the fast-changing social, built, and environmental ecosystems;
2) to improve transdisciplinary methods and scales of crossed-analysis, in order to further expand the research practices and develop new digital tools;
3) to evaluate the tangible impact, formative role, and capacity that Architecture, Cinema, Theatre and Visual Arts have to generate social, gender and cultural processes of inclusion and participation;
4) to produce reliable systematized information, suitable for cultural and political decision-makers to predict problems and draw both effective and creative strategies, improving human-made and natural landscapes.
Short-term objectives:
1) in close synergy with partner institutions, the unit will keep the focus on the promotion of high-qualified fundamental and applied research work, reinforcing CEAA's already established fields and fostering new ones;
2) to attract funding to implement innovative transnational, regional and local R&D projects;
3) it will to support scientific employment, incorporating researchers in diverse stages of their careers, from distinct backgrounds and epistemic traditions;
4) to improve transfer of knowledge competences and open science communication strategies, targeting academic and non-academic audiences, while contributing for art and cultural literacy; 5) to keep the active promotion of researchers' circulation, networking and cooperation with international partners and strengthening transnational production.
Three strategic areas of action will be implemented: Human-made landscapes; Digital, media and curatorial practices; Transnational, inclusive and participatory cultures.
Given the visible and well-succeeded results accomplished, the R&D Unit will keep the current organizational structure.
Therefore, it will be grounded on the activity of 4 Research Groups - Architectural Studies, Film Studies, Art and Critical Studies and Performing Arts Studies - and a transversal Research Line - 'Commonplace'.
Besides their autonomy, all groups and line will work together in the accomplishment of the CEAA's strategic plan targeted to extend far beyond the boundaries of academic environment and to impact several sectors of society, bridging scientific and artistic outcomes with the tangible realities and demands of society.
